Last night was a wonderful experience. I have seen it twice yet this time around I saw the process from the start and as I said to Cherylee last night, I am going to be facebook stalking their new owners for five months.
Velika has asthma and was a bit gassy so when I went to go check up on her I mistook her contractions for the asthma and gassy tummy. I then checked her again about half an hour later and was surprised with little kitten being licked from head to toe by his mommy. Soon Velika had an audience as Cherylee, Kim and I were watching her deliver her second baby which was a little girl. When her little girl was on the way I then recognised the noises she was making and from that moment I will triple check that the mother is not in labour.
An hour and a half later Velika pushed as hard as she gave birth to another little boy and about another half an hour with the energy from the Gloop that we gave her, Velika delivered her fourth baby which was another girl.
Her journey of being a mother has started with her having two girls and two boys, learning how to control her breathing and snuggled all up with her babies.
I never quite got the whole mother and baby thing with humans yet watching Velika and hearing Cherylee say that it was a miracle, it really was.
Today Velika kept walking away from her nest so we thought we would take her out for a bit and let her run, the running would also help for the gas. I was fascinated watch how four different girls sniffed her. they would start from far and then edge closer and closer until Velika's hairs tickled their noses. After some outside time we took her back inside to let her be with her babies. So far she is doing very well, she still needs to learn though that she needs to clean the babies yet I am sure that she will get the hang of it soon.
Cherylee and I are now eagerly waiting for Paloma to pop. she is due tomorrow yet she can come early. She has become a purr factory of note and loves for you to be their. Another huge wants I have wanted to do is feel the babies in the mother's womb. I felt Velika's slightly but Paloma's tonight must have been playing a match against each other. It was an amazing feeling, feeling a little life in this womb moving. Soon they will come and say hello to the world and I cannot wait for that to happen.
